Children's Homes IndiaHome Care: The approximately 850 children live at one of four campuses. Their ages are as young as 3 to graduation from higher education. The children are cared for by dedicated house parents, some of whom are themselves alumni of the homes. The girls and boys live in separate home units, which is appropriate for Indian culture. The children are involved in helping through chores that involve meal preparation, ground care, farm chores, and other tasks with the older children helping the younger. The care given to the children is not seen as just feeding and housing, but an integral part of establishing social skills needed for a productive life. Medical and dental care is also provided. Schooling: India is a nation of many languages. Although Hindi is the official language, English is the language of business. This is why English medium schools have been established at two of the campuses, called Home Academies. All school age children attend school and there is no regard for race, creed or sex. The school endeavors to provide a "top notch" education and has invested in science and computer labs as funds have come available. Higher Education: Because of the caliber of education that the children receive at the Home Academies, opportunities to attend higher education are available to the home graduates. Some have chosen trades such as auto mechanics and computer technicians, others have become teachers, nurses, accountants, ministers and one has received his doctorate of medicine. Your Support: For just $60 a month you could open the way for a child whose life started in the dust of a impoverished leper camp to achieve a place in society, which for most of us is assumed, but to a child of leper parents is an almost impossible dream. But you can make the dream come true. Please help support this important work. For more information CLICK HERE. | ||
